Why I love him, too. How could anyone think he’s stupid? When he went to sleep, radar was brand-new technology, gosh.
I really do love this little exchange between Steve and Tony. Because Steve is like “oh, for crying out loud, I have no idea what I’m doing here, again, great,” and he’s being as self-deprecating about it as he can be. And Tony, who’s been more than a bit of a jerk to Steve up ‘til now (for a variety of reasons), doesn’t really give him shit about it. “Well, you’re not wrong…”
And then when the movie cuts back to these two, Steve’s sliding this panel away and telling Tony that it looks good. Which means that Tony must have talked him through fixing it. This whole fight sequence lays the groundwork for the two of them to start moving past their issues with each other, i.e., Steve’s You’re-not-Bucky-waaaaahhh problem and Tony’s Dad-loved-you-more-than-me-waaaaaah thing.
I need to go see this movie again.
